The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) Division of Federal Programs has announced that Skyview Elementary School is one of two Title I schools in Georgia to be recognized as a 2018 National ESEA Distinguished School. Skyview Elementary will be presented with the award at the 2019 National ESEA Conference, January 30 - February 2 in Kansas City, MO.
“Congratulations to Skyview Elementary for this tremendous honor! We are excited they will represent Georgia and our community at the National ESEA Title I Conference,” Superintendent Dr. Curtis Jones said. “Skyview is an excellent school with a great faculty and staff, dedicated parents, and a mindset of ‘Leadership. Scholarship. Citizenship.’ The school is a source of pride for the District and the community. Job well done! VIP continues!”
This national designation is based on data from the 2016-2017 school year. Skyview Elementary School’s College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) score increased by 20.7 points in 2016-2017 from the previous year, for a total score of 91.2 points. It was the largest increase among Bibb schools that year.
“We are very excited about this recognition,” Skyview Elementary School Principal Sara Carlson said. “As a staff, we worked diligently in analyzing student data to inform teaching practices. Students created goals, developed a plan to meet those goals, and tracked their progress throughout the year.”
